چکیده

At Podsused near Zagreb, in an abandoned surface excavation of cement marls, near Kostanjek (Fig. 1) an 83 m thick lithostratigraphical column was investigated comprising layers of Sarmatian and Pannonian age. Five lithofacies units (A, AB, B, C, D) were separated on the basis of their structural-petrographic characteristics. From layers with greater concentrations of fossils, a rich community of molluscs, foraminifera and ostracods was sampled, from which three basic biofacies were distinguished and the sediment age was defined. In summary, 23 gastropod species (21 of Pannonian and 2 of Sarmatian age) and 27 bivalve species The Pannonian Palaeoecology and Biostratigraphy of Molluscs from Kostanjek Medvednica Mt., Croatia

Magnetite-hematite Iron Ore Occurrences in the Triassic-paleozoic Metamorphic Complex of Medvednica Mountain, Croatia

Iron ore occurrences are situated on the south-eastern slopes of the Medvednica Mountain. They occur as discontinous, decameters long and 2-3.5 m thick bedded, poorly mineralized (15-35 % Fe) lenses. A narrow, 6 km long, ore zone strikes NE-SW from Tisova Peć to Pustodol-Adolfovac. It is spatially and genetically bounded to the basic volcanogenic-sedimentary series (SEDEX-type), metamorphosed i...

The region represents a Pleistocene horst-anticline at the southern margin of the Sava depression. Sediments are dominated by clay, bearing some sand, gravel and lignite intercalations. The molluscs, comprising 11 gastropod and...
